Nigeria’s Female YellowGreens endured a tough outing in their final group match of the ICC Women’s T20 Africa Qualifier, falling to a 10-wicket defeat against Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
Batting first, the Nigerians were bowled out for 90 runs in 19.5 overs, failing to build partnerships or accelerate against Zimbabwe’s well-organised attack.

Captain Piety Agboya (14) and all-rounder Lucky Piety (12) were the only players to reach double figures, while the rest of the lineup struggled under the pressure of accurate bowling and sharp fielding.
Extras provided the third-highest contribution with 13 runs, underlining Nigeria’s difficulties in putting bat to ball.
In reply, Zimbabwe showcased their superior batting depth and composure.
Openers Modester Mupachikwa and Kelis Ndhlovu delivered a flawless partnership, guiding their side to victory without losing a wicket.
Mupachikwa struck an unbeaten 36 from 40 balls, hitting six boundaries, while Ndhlovu played confidently for 44 not out off 46 deliveries.
The pair’s unbroken stand of 93 runs highlighted Zimbabwe’s dominance, as they chased down the target in just 14.2 overs with 34 balls to spare.
Despite rotating six bowlers, Nigeria could not find a breakthrough. Captain Agboya, alongside Omonkhobio and Amusa, bowled economically at times, but Zimbabwe’s openers kept the scoreboard ticking with controlled aggression.
None of the bowlers managed a wicket, leaving Nigeria with little to celebrate in the field.
The emphatic victory underlined Zimbabwe’s strength in the competition as they progress from Group B with momentum.
For Nigeria, the defeat confirmed their exit from the qualifier, bringing an end to a challenging campaign where consistency with both bat and ball remained elusive.
