Napuma Hengari, representing Namibia, recently competed in the mixed 4 x 400 relay race at the All-African Games, showcasing extraordinary determination and resilience despite facing challenges on the track.
Although her team finished last in their heat, Hengari’s unwavering spirit and positive attitude shone through.
“We are winners because we come from the line of the brave,” Hengari declared in an interview with Sports 247, emphasizing the importance of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.
Despite not achieving the desired result in the relay race, Hengari remained undeterred and focused on the next opportunity to excel.
In addition to her participation in the mixed relay race, Hengari also competed in the 400-meter dual event, where she unfortunately finished last.

Reflecting on her experience at the All-African Games, Hengari expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete on the international stage for the first time.
“My impression is like, they are opening doors,” she remarked. “This is my first international competition, and I wish to have more in Africa.
So we experience how hot other countries are. We are used to ours that is so cool.”
Looking ahead, Hengari remains optimistic about her future in athletics. Even if she does not secure a medal at the All-African Games, she is determined to continue competing and is eagerly anticipating the upcoming African Athletic Championships in Cameroon.
