Zidora Africa @Play: “Everybody Went 100 on Each Other” – Aziba Martin Reflects on All African Games MMA Triumph

Aziba Martin, an athlete in mixed martial arts, shared his experience from the All African Games, where he clinched a silver medal in the -93 kg category. Aziba Martin, speaking to Sports247, described the event as intense, emphasizing that despite being labeled as a demonstration sport, the competition was fiercely competitive.

“In the -93 kg MMA event, there were a lot of strong guys there… Everybody went 100 on each other,” Martin recounted. He expressed satisfaction in emerging as one of the medalists after enduring tough fights, particularly highlighting his final match as one of the toughest in the category.

Reflecting on a memorable fight that garnered attention, Martin recalled his encounter with a Burkina Faso opponent. Despite facing a taller adversary, Martin’s aggressive approach led to a dramatic showdown, with the referee intervening to maintain control. “I just went 5000 on the guy, That fight was really epic,” Aziba Martin remarked, emphasizing the joy of representing his country on such a platform.

Looking ahead, Martin expressed aspirations to reach higher levels in his sport. “The aim of every athlete is to make sure they get to the highest level,” he stated, emphasizing the determination to surpass past achievements and strive for excellence.
