The Youth Sports federation of Nigeria (YSFON) on Thursday the 9th of February renewed it’s partnership with Imo state Ministry of youths, Sports and social development on grassroot sports development, the statesman newspaper can exclusively report.
YSFON delegates led by the Chairman Ndubuisi Sunny Opara ably represented by the vice chairman Mr Francis Nwokocha in a solidarity visit to the honourable commissioner for youth, sports and social development, Chief Emeka Okoronkwo in his office at the state secretariat New Owerri.
The Public relation officer Anthony Ahize appreciated the ministry for their unalloyed support in the past and has come to renew their partnership with the ministry going forward.
“ The goal of YSFON has always been tailored to grassroot development and YSFON has embarked on sporting programs yearly such as football talent hunt, female football scouting, under 15 championship, basketball tournaments , snooker championship, table tennis championship, bench ball, marathon and so many other sporting activities tailored to discovering young talents.
We are here to renew and solidify our partnership with the ministry in the bid to achieve all this mile stones. “ Ahize concluded
In response, the honourable Okoronkwo reassured the YSFON delegates of his commitment to partner with YSFON in grassroots sports development.
“ I welcome you with open arms and I’ve heard what you said and i want to assure you of my full support.
I’m looking forward to partnering with YSFON subsequently. It is a new dawn in Imo sports and I will only suggest you give us early notice before any of the programs you need the input of the ministry so i can put heads together with the permanent secretary and find a solution.
I charge the YSFON coaches to make sure that , this talented young stars should be recruited to play for Heartland fc and Heartland Queens too, this I believe should be in the fire front of YSFON programs.” Okoronkwo concluded.
The permanent secretary also emphasized that YSFON has always had good partnership with the ministry and they will be happy to feel the presence and impact of YSFON in the sports ministry once again.
The delegates assured the commissioner of YSFON’s commitment in helping Heartland FC source for quality players who will fly the flag of the club.
Heartland FC general manager, Mr Promise Nwachukwu who was also present at the gathering also admitted to benefitting from YSFON’s footballing talents in the past and will look forward to more players discovered through the YSFON programs.
