In the youth (U17) event, Nigeria secured their second consecutive victory, outpacing Madagascar with a score of 54:18. The leading scorers for Nigeria were Amina Muhammad and Chidera Ogbusimba, who contributed 10 and nine goals, respectively. In another match, Rwanda dominated the first half with an 18:10 lead against Guinea. However, the Guinean team mounted an impressive comeback after halftime, ultimately clinching a remarkable 33:25 victory.
With two games completed, Nigeria stands tall with four points, while Guinea and Rwanda are neck-and-neck with two points each. Madagascar has yet to secure any points. The preliminary stage’s final day, which falls today, Thursday, will feature a clash between Nigeria and Rwanda at 12:00 (local time), followed by Guinea facing off against Madagascar at 16:00.
In the junior (U19) competition, Kadiatou Kaba’s astounding performance of 15 goals propelled Guinea to a commanding triumph over Madagascar (42:14). Meanwhile, the home team, Ivory Coast, played to a draw with Tanzania, resulting in a 21:21 tie.
With a flawless record of four points, Guinea has already cemented its place in the final match. Ivory Coast holds three points, Tanzania stands at one point, and Madagascar is still striving for its first points.
