Côte d’Ivoire U20 responded emphatically to their first-leg defeat by securing a commanding 2-0 victory over Nigeria U20 in the second leg of their international friendly at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.

After suffering a 2-0 loss to the Flying Eagles in the opening match, the Young Elephants came out determined, showing greater intensity and tactical discipline.
Tape Yaya Kader broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, giving the hosts an early advantage. Nigeria attempted to fight back, but their attacking efforts were thwarted by a well-organized Ivorian defense.
The Ivorians doubled their lead early in the second half when Isacc Cisse converted a penalty in the 53rd minute, sealing a well-earned victory. Despite Nigeria’s attempts to mount a comeback, the Young Elephants remained resolute, ensuring they avenged their earlier defeat.
The two matches served as crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, set to take place from April 26 to May 18.
Côte d’Ivoire will compete in Group A alongside DR Congo, Ghana, Tanzania, and another Central African representative, while Nigeria faces a tough challenge in Group B, featuring Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco.
