Former director-general of the now defunct national sports commission, Alhassan Yakmut has stated that the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, which started over the weekend will boost the future of Nigerian sports.
Yakmut said in a chat with sports247.ng that the Games is a platform to help Nigerian future athletes showcase themselves and gain requisite experience.
He added that experience gained from competing at the global youth level will accord the Nigerian youngsters necessary exposure that is direly needed for their career development in their respective sports.
He also enjoyed the nation’s flag bearers to put up good conduct and disciplined attitudes during the Games in Argentina, which started in full swing on Sunday, after the opening ceremony on Saturday.
Yakmut said: “The Youth Olympics is a good avenue for our young athletes to expose themselves.
“That is why I urge the Nigerian athletes to put in their best and be good ambassadors of Nigeria at the Games.”
