Wushu Kung-Fu Federation has entered into an agreement with Lekki’s Fun Factory in a bid to further popularize the sport.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, President of the Nigeria Wushu Kung-fu Federation, Adekunle Adewunmi, who was accompanied by his wife, said the endorsement by Fun Factory wouldn’t have come at a better time than now that Nigeria Kung-fu is setting the pace in Africa. He buttressed his claim with Kung-fu’s performance at the just concluded African Championship in Dakar, Senegal, where Nigeria won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals despite going with only four athletes.
He revealed that the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports has upgraded Kung-fu from optional sports to regular sports in Nigeria, adding that Fun Factory would be used as not only a training base but also as a place where corporate issues concerning Kung-fu would be discussed.
Also speaking on the pact, officials of Fun Factory located along Admiralty Way, opposite GT Bank, Lekki Phase I, said the marriage was aimed at developing the game of Kung-fu from the grassroots.
According to Fun Factory Manager, Ruth Nathaniel, children’s love for Kung-fu sport due to the entertainment aspect of it also pushed her organisation to embrace the game.
