Speaking to newsmen on the side of the final games, Ogbonna said that with the standard and skills displayed by the Teqball players, he has no doubt that the Nigerian contingent to the forthcoming World Championship will make the nation proud.

“I am not surprised by what I am seeing in this qualifiers because our players are developing daily and they can stand their own anywhere and against any player in the world”, Ogbonna, who also doubles as the Vice Chairman of the Abia State Teqball Association noted. “It’s on record that Nigerian Teqball players are the Top 5 African best as the took all the medals in Tunisia last year”.

He recounted the exploits of Victor Oyemade who was voted the Most Valuable Player at the last World Series held in Vietnam. “Aside Victor who’s rated among the top Teqball players worldwide and Africa’a No 2, we boost of other world beaters like Tobi Mejed, Andrew Ikoko, Khalid Akorede among others and we are still getting better.

On the organization of the Qualifiers, The LOC Secretary said they were above average though they would have done better given limited resources available. “Though I can’t score myself but if I must, I will rate us a modest 6 out of 10. One area I would have loved to see an improvement is in the area of spectators. This could not happen because we lacked money for promotions”.

He appreciated the Abia State Government for supporting the development of Teqball in the State which is further demonstrated by the sponsorship of the Championship Qualifiers in Aba.
