The Shito-Ryu Karate Association of Nigeria has brought the world to the athletes and coaches of the combat sports.
The association organised a seminar and Championship which brought the participants up to date with the latest techniques of the sports.
The seminar was handled by the president, world Shito-Ryu Karate Federation, Africa, Hanshi Patrice Bai and participants were taken through theories and practicals of the sports which was an attraction to athletes and clubs from across the country.
The championship and workshop held at the Indoor Sports Hall, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos from 12th to 15th May 2022, and events slated for 8am – 5pm each day, with the workshop serving as a master class for all black belt Karate practitioners from all over the country, irrespective of style, while the championship was open to all members across different age categories who competed for the available medals. The championship also proved a veritable site for the association’s newly trained referees to practice their newly learnt skills.
Speaking to the president, Shito-Ryu Karate Association of Nigeria, Lucky Ebunu, he said that this seminar is to show the guest how Nigeria’s Karate is perfect “this program is a national program for all states, we want to show our guest how our karate is perfect”
Wilson Okon, technical director Shito-Ryu Karate Association of Nigeria also noted that the guest from Cote D’Ivoire did a very good job. “He did a very good job, exposing some hidden technicalities of the Shito-Ryu Karate”
At the end, winners were awarded medals and gift items for thier efforts. To this effect, the federation will organise a tournament next month in Lagos.
