Nigeria Women Basketball League defending champions, First Bank of Lagos began their title defence in grand style, with a 95-50 win over debuting Mountain of Fire & Miracles (MFM) in Enugu.
While The Elephant Girls started well at the Enugu Centre, their main rivals, Dolphins of Lagos opened with two victories against Coal City Babes of Enugu and Ogun Babes of Abeokuta.
Dolphins started the competition with a 65-39 defeat of Coal City on Sunday before recording another 69-46 victory against Ogun Babes in the early hours of Monday.
In other matches played in Enugu, Delta Force defeated Sunshine Babes 49-43, while First Deepwater were victorious against Ogun Babes 52-42.
In Abuja, Bindow Queens Adamawa defeated Equity Angels of Kebbi 41-29, while Zamfara State silenced Borno State 77-5 in the opening match of the Savanna Conference.
