Women of all social strata have been admonished on the essence of engaging in physical exercise and recreational activities geared towards their total health and well-being.
The admonition was given in Awka during the monthly physical exercise programme organized by Cmdr. Nkechi Rose Offodile Rtd (Princess), Founder/CEO – ‘Princess Aerobics for Ladies’.
Offodile stated that the vision behind the ‘Princess Aerobics for Ladies’ is to engage women in exercise as women need exercise to boost their mood, keep pounds at bay as well as shed their body mass and keep fit regularly. She opined that physical exercise is good for improvement and maintenance of body fitness, general wellness and health status of not just women but both genders as it’s a culture that should be imbibed by all and sundry no matter their class and affiliation.
Also reacting, one of the participants and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chairperson, Awka South LGA, Hon. Chikodili Nonyelu, JP, described the ‘Princess Aerobics for Ladies’ initiative as apt, Hon. Nonyelu stated that the programme has avail women the opportunity to converge together Saturdays and Mondays for physical exercise.The APGA party stalwart posited that the programme is of immense benefit as it helps the women folk to be physically fit and healthy.
On her part, former Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Hon. Felicia Chinelo Okika re-echoed the views of Cmdr Offodile and Hon. Nonyelu. Hon. Okika described the initiative as a wonderful idea geared towards ensuring that women engage in recreational activities and physical exercise in order to be in good mental shape and display physical stability.
Okika advised women to be part of history by turning out en masse for the social event while reiterating the cliche ‘Health is Wealth’, she commended the founder Cmdr Offodile for her zeal and enthusiasm towards recreational activities and programmes that will ensure that women are meaningfully engaged recreational wise.
‘Princess Aerobics for Ladies’ is the brainchild of Cmrd. Nkechi Offodile, Rtd, who is being assisted by Mrs Ngozi Iloka. The exercise and fitness programme provides a platform for women in Awka to converge Saturdays at Community Primary School Awka to engage in Brisk walking, Aerobics and Calisthenics. More than 50 ladies drawn from all walks of life are currently engaged in the ‘Princess Aerobics for Ladies’ initiative in Awka.
