WINNERS FC on Sunday lifted the UNIMATT Challenge cup after defeating Ogbemudein Elites 3-2 on penalties after 0-0 in regulation time. O.Elite were resilient despite coming into the match as underdogs.

The Relatively unknown O.Eilte side joined the Agbor coaches and Directors’s union recentlyand were last minute entrant to the Tournament after Acquire FC pulled out. They went on to defeat KG sports, Superfly, Green Rangers and
Delta Milan on their way to the finals. Scoring 7 goals and conceding 2. WINNERS FC on the other hand were in a free scoring form with their talisman Earnest Okonkwo netting 5 goals as the Agbor Obi Boys scored fourteen goals and conceeding just 2 in the process
they ran over Ambassador, Diamon 07, Big Daddy and UNIMATT FC to get to the finals.
The finals which was apoch and with obver 500 fans on the Agbor township stadium had the creame de La cream of the Agbor Football in attendance. WINNERS took the game to O.Elite earlier in the game but were unable to find the net has they normally do and the match ended in stalemate.
Both Keepers showed their prowess inbetween the sticks in the ensuring spot kicks but in the end WINNERS FC prevailed.
Earlier before the finals, UNIMATT FC defeated Delta Milan 2-0 in the 3rd place match and a novelty match between the Agbor Coaches and Directors Union ( AFCADU) against the IKA all Stars ended in a 1-0 win for the vistors. The AFCDAU Team Parading the likes of Matthew Orhibahbor, Director of UNIMATT, Ifeanyi Dike, Coach of Star peak and led by Chairman of AFCADU Coach Onyeka Alika who captained the side were unable to over power the Ika all stars with Players Like Jude Uwadia, Wilson Ezenwali, Innocent Cheche and Kingsley Beye. Team manger for the Ika All stars Hon Lucky Sunday was at the sidelines dishing out instructions.
Tournament sponsor Matthew Oribahbor in his message thanks all the participants, and organizers of the event and congratulated the finalist pledging to make this event an anual one and greater in the future. “”I am the most fulfilled man today because my dream of an ideal tournament has come true and it was peaceful and colourful, i am very excited and i hope next year it will be better and bigger than this year”he stated.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Agbor Coaches and Directors Union Coach Onyeka Alika also sent out a message in the group’s whatsapp group thanking the Sponsors and members of the Organizing committee.
He expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the coaches and officials throughout the two weeks long tournament while extending congratulations to WINNERS FC who emerged champions and O.Elite who finished as runners up. “Please lets keep the good we are doing and a day will come when all our prayers will be answered”he concluded.
