Everyday, it is often said, is not Christmas. In the game of football, you win, lose or draw.
Being the winner of the first two editions of the Prince Dapo Abiodun Pre-Season Tournament, we were the team to beat, going into the just concluded third edition.
We fancied our chances of winning it the third time but ultimately, we were in Ijebu-Ode to kick start our preparations for the upcoming season.
Before the tourney started, we trained for just few days, with fresh legs coming in to join the old ones.
It can be stated categorically, that we started our training and preparation for the new season with the Dapo Abiodun tourney, where most of the players were playing together as a team.
Inspite of this, we muscled our way to a record third appearance in the final of the tournament.
In the final, we played against a very good side, Kwara United, whom we beat in the opening game and we ended the match with our heads high, despite the outcome.
It was not going to be easy playing in the third consecutive finals, against a team that we defeated in the opening game.
To hold such a solid team like Kwara United was not easy, it was very hearculean but we rose to the ocassion.
We are happy, going home with the positives from the competition. Yes there were lapses noticed, there are areas we need to work on and that is the exact essence of pre season.
The management will never fold its arm, neither will the technical crew relax, untill we are able to hit the mark. Sure, we will, with time.
While we appreciate and understand your worries, as true lovers of this great club, we want to assure you, that everything needed would be done to ensure we get our team ready for the NPFL season.
We will continue to work hard until we attain the level we/you really wanted, and that is a promise from us to you.
We know you love winning, we do also, because it has become our culture.
All we need from you, is your support and understanding as well as your prayers. Together, we will do it.
The Dapo Abiodun Pre-Season Tournament is over, against all odds, we got to the final and finished second, not a bad one. From here, we move to the next assignment.
