Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong played a crucial role in Al-Kholood’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

The match was filled with drama, twists, and a sensational ending courtesy of Troost-Ekong’s brilliance.

Jackson Muleka gave Al-Kholood an early lead, converting a penalty in the 25th minute. However, the advantage was short-lived as Georginio Wijnaldum equalized for the hosts shortly after.

Myziane Maolida restored Al-Kholood’s lead in the 54th minute, only for Moussa Dembele to dramatically level the score for Al-Ettifaq in the 96th minute.

With the game heading into extra time, Troost-Ekong stepped up when it mattered most. In the 10th minute of added time, he delivered a pinpoint long ball that found Maolida, who calmly finished for his second goal of the night.

The strike sealed a hard-fought win for Al-Kholood and broke Al-Ettifaq’s hearts.

This victory marks Al-Kholood’s third win of the season, lifting them to 13th place in the league table.
