The Nigerian defender, William Troost-Ekong who as earlier reported, left the Super Eagles camp before Tunisia’s game on Tuesday, made his bow as the Hornets secured all three points away to Derby County on Friday night.
The 27-year-old Watford’s new number 5 joined the English Championship club in September from sister club Udinese. Both clubs are owned by the Pozzo family.
Troost-Ekong started at the heart of Watford’s back three in a 3-5-2 formation before being substituted in the 71st minute after sustaining a knock. He had a decent game, helping to shut out the likes of Wayne Rooney as Watford won 1-0.

The first half ended in a dour 0-0 scoreline as neither team could find a way to break the deadlock. The game’s lone goal came from Watford’s second-half sub, João Pedro, who curled a beauty into the top corner with 15 minutes left on the clock.
The win moves Watford up to 5th in the Sky Bet Championship table in the meantime with 10 points from their opening five matches. Troost-Ekong and his teammates would be looking to get Watford back to the Premier League after they suffered relegation to the second tier last season.
