Ottasolo head coach Seyi Olufemi praised his side for their performance against Rivers United despite losing 1-0 in the Governor Wike Pre Season Tournament.
Ottasolo striker Ebenezer Odeyemi had his goal disallowed before Rivers United needed a penalty well dispatched by Ifeanyi Anaemena to pick the maximum points at stake.
“We are into grassroots and have come here to show some new things. We honestly need a change,” Seyi Olufemi reflected post-match.
“I think we scored a good goal but the referee had his reasons for not giving it. But it was a good game on the part of the two sides.”
“It is true, the opposing team scored from the penalty spot, but I am very pleased with the performance of my wards.”
“The team developed a football that allowed them to play as equals against the host team in the competition.
“The truth is that I value the team’s performance well beyond the sadness of losing at the end.
“I think that at times we were superior to a team of the hierarchy of Rivers United.
“I believe that in this game, we have not lacked anything. I think we have to feel very well represented by these players because of they put on the pitch a hierarchy and ferocity that characterises them.
“This was a game without fear, and certainly that is worth something.”
“This is our first game and lots of positives was recorded in terms of the way we played. We arrived in Port Harcourt on Saturday night and had only one training session before the game with Rivers United. I believe we would be ready for the remaining fixtures,” he concluded.
