Blessed Stars Football Academy yesterday disclosed to Sports247 that they had rejected an offer from Akwa United FC earlier this year for Charles Etim as terms of contract were neither favorable for both player and grassroot club.
While speaking with a source at Blessed Stars Football Academy we gathered that Akwa United FC had offered to clear the player for N100,000 ($250) at the current conversion rate with no future percentage allocated to the grassroot team.
“That is much lower than an average club gets for a transfer fee of a player who has National team experience, i am very disappointed that we in Akwa Ibom do not value what they have until another outsider shows interest. Blessed Stars was offered N7,000,000 by an NPFL team for the same player but reasons best known to them the club declined as well.”
The Akwa Ibom born player is now part of Laddan Bosso’s squad heading to the WAFU games this December in Benin Republic. The utility player is expected to appear with Jersey No.5 during the WAFU tournament.
