Team Manager of B. United Football Club, Azeez Badru has explained why his boys failed to beat Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Academy in a friendly match played recently at Agege Stadium, Lagos.
Eletu Academy hammered B. United 4-2 in an encounter watched by an appreciable crowd. Badru said he was disappointed that his team lost to their opponents as a result of heavy downpours at the match venue.
“We came to beat Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy but they were favored by the heavy downpour. The waterlogged stadium really helps our opponents and they were able to take advantage of it. I did not accept this defeat until we replay the match without rain,” he said.
Asked if he would recall for the replay, Badru said he has no choice to quickly invite Prince Kareem Eletu Academy to fix another day for the replay of a friendly match. He claimed that his team played their opponents but they were unlucky to have won the game.
Reacting to Badru comment, Kazeem Eletu Academy coach, Oluwadamilola Idowu said his opponents were a good side but they were not better than his boys. He said beating them was well deserved but was surprised when Badru claimed that the waterlogged stadium helped his boys to win the encounter.
“Everybody saw what happened so I don’t think I need to debate on the issue. If they call for a replay fine and good. If management accepts it, it is going to be an interesting game because we would not have mercy on them” he said.
