Why Berackiah Grassroots Football Coaching Clinic Delayed: Many Questions Begging For Answers

Questions are being raised about the Berackiah Football coaching clinic as stakeholders have been showering encomiums on the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, NFCA for organizing an ongoing CAF C Coaching Course exclusively for women in Abuja.

The program, no doubt is a plus to the present administration of the nation’s Football Governing Body on the round leather game amongst women.

However, grassroot football coaches across the Six Geo political zone of Nigeria have expressed worries on why the much anticipated Berackiah Grassroot Football Coaching Clinic is yet to take place this year.

The programme which heralded coaches with modern trends, technological driven and sophisticated coaching facilities trained almost all the 36 states of the Federation in the year 2023 but up till now ,July, 2024, the Coaching outfit is yet to commence programme.

This question is against the backdrop of yearnings and aspirations of coaches at the grassroots, particularly those who participated in the Nationwide League Coaching course held last year which later crystallized them to the Nigeria National League, NNL.

Berackiah Grassroot Football Coaching Clinic is a Coaching program with accredited courses and contents globally accepted boosted with foreign trainers.

The reactions of those who participated in the year 2023 affirmed that the programme was massively felt in the just concluded third tiers of Nigeria league where number of participating teams rose astronomically to the Professional status and the games were keenly contested ,won clean and clear.

Going by the antecedent, the programme was held in South East and South South of Nigeria last year and much later, Abuja ,Lagos and Oyo states welcomed Berackiah and signed MOU to train their Grassroot Football Coaches. This they did and it recorded a huge success.

What the critical stakeholders should bear in mind is that every Coaching Clinic is important for the development of football in Nigeria.

The referesher courses for coaches are done across the globe and it is in line with global best practices wherein different coaching outfits build coaches in multi-dimensional philosophies with different trainers giving them options to update and upgrade themselves

It’s high time the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and the Nigeria Football Coaches Association,NFCA who are doing well in the area of human development review each Coaching outfit and give them necessary support to build Grassroot Football Coaches at grassroots.
