Head coach of Jimmy Football Club, Akanni Adebayo has expressed confidence that his team are ready to face any team in the ongoing WGB Lagos FA Cup.
Adebayo declared this after his team thrashed Dosu Joseph Academy 3-1 in round 54 of the competition which took place yesterday at the Alade Sports complex, Ipaja Command, Alimosho.
In a chat with the sports 247.ng, Adebayo popularly known as Saubana Saubana explained that his boys are in a good frame of mind to cause an upset in the WGB Lagos FA Cup boasting that the team can go all the way not to reach the final but to win the tournament.
“I have a crop of players who are highly experienced and they have played the game to the highest level. We are coming to FA Cup to do well not sightseeing. If we could beat the m champions of the ongoing Ikeja super league with ease, this is to tell you that we are ready for big teams in the FA Cup,” he said.
In his own remark, the chairman of Jimmy FC, Jimmy Dickson was full of confidence that his team would go far in the tournament. He commended his players for their victory and noted that Jimmy stand the chance to reach the final stage.
“We are not afraid of any team. I have spotted these players cut across the country and they are good to go. I am not boasting that we would win the cup but we are ready to face any team. The players are in the best form of their lives and they will take each game as it comes,” he added.
Dosu Joseph coach, Kayode Agboola admitted that their opponents are a highly experienced side and they deserved to win their game and wished them the best of luck in their subsequent matches.
Meanwhile, Jimmy sent a warning signal to other teams as Okoye Timothy netted the opening goal in the 20seconds.
Although Dosu boys raised the tempo of the game Jimmy with the array of experienced players quickly scored the second goal via Ntanfing Obong in the 7th minute to confirm their supremacy over their opponents.
David Ankeye goal in the 61th minutes shattered the ambition of Dosu boys who played their heart out in the pulsating tie watched by hundreds of spectators.
Dosu Boys who were laboured from the beginning got a consolatory goal as Onifade Kayode converted the penalty kick in the 92th minutes to end the encounter 3-1.
