The final of the Super 8 Preseason tournament held at Ebutte-meta Lagos saw Liqui Moly defeat Bethel FC by a lone goal but the manager of Bethel was full of praises for both his reshuffled team and the young champions.
In an interview with Sports247, the coach of Bethel Nathaniel Olagunju praised the organization of the tournament and hailed the talents on display from all participating teams who are all going to take part in the forthcoming Lagos State FA Cup.
“It was a well-organized tournament and it came at the right time as the FA Cup is around the corner. It was an opportunity to give our boys exposure and push to get set,” Nathaniel said.
“The young Liqui Moly side are full of talented players, take nothing away from them, played well and were able to hold us and for us, it’s to return to the drawing board and improve on our lapses,” he added.
Bethel FC always have a habit of starting competitions slowly and gradually picking up the pace and it wasn’t different at this tournament even as the side paraded new faces and the coach explained the reason for that.
“We’re into talent hunting and we had a lot of new boys we wanted to try out in this tournament to enable them to blend into our philosophy because of the long season ahead. We need to keep digging deep to find the right mixture to get us what we want and we’re satisfied with about eighty percent of those we have picked from this tournament,” Nathaniel said.
