The newly appointed Chairman of Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin Mr Kumbi Titiloye has promised to lift the club to become a purely professional club that will compete with clubs not only in Nigeria but African at large.
Recalled that the state governor Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq few days a ago approved the appointment of a new seven-member board, with Kumbi Titiloye from Kwara South Senatorial District as the new Chairman of the club.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the former administrator of Kwara Football Academy restated the determination of the new management under his tutelage to place more emphasis on indigenous players and also to run the club professionally.
“I’m happy and I want to thank God for the wonderful opportunity given to me by the Executive Governor of Kwara State Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq. It is not just a passion that prepares one to excel but also the focus and the ability to move to a higher level of human endeavour in whatever sector one finds himself.
“This appointment has given me joy because I’m back to Kwara to lift Kwara United to become a purely professional club that will compete with club sides in African, not just Nigeria.
“We want to be a continental club, we want to be a club that plays in the premier league, we want to be a club that places emphasis on indigenous players because we have a multitude of players and administrators from Kwara, who are scattered around this country
“We need to tap all these resources to develop the club and Kwara football in general and sports as a whole so, God’s willing, our board will move Kwara united to a higher level, a level that our governor and football administrators would be proud of”, the former administrator of Abuja football Academy promised.
Other board members of the club includes Hamidu Olowo (Kwara Central) as the secretary, Bashir Badawi from Kwara South as the General Manager; Yahaya Jibril Usman (Kwara North) as Team Manager; AbdulKadir Mohammed Saheed (Kwara North) as Welfare Officer; Hamid Alege Olarewaju (Kwara Central) as member; and Ajadi Bamidele Ganiyu (Kwara South) as member.
