Super Eagles international and Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that the team is prepared ahead of the EPL season opener against Brentford with team high on confidence to begin the campaign on high.
Last season, the Foxes won the Bees twice, home and away and Iheanacho believes that the new season is different and that thier opponent won’t be overlooked.
“They’re a good side,” the Nigerian told LCFC TV this week. “Every team is working hard. We know what to expect, but maybe they’ll be a bit different now, we have to be ready.”
“They’ll be preparing and we are preparing as well. You know how the Premier League is. It’s tough and no game is easy.”
“We’ll have to be ready and hopefully we’ll get the three points. We can take confidence [from beating Brentford twice last season] but that was last season. This season, it’ll be totally different. We have to be ready and prepared. We’ll go and play our football with confidence.”
Iheanacho has now called on his Leicester colleagues to ‘attack the game’ on Filbert Way – in order to be able to impose their own style. A positive result in that clash, the former Manchester City forward believes, can set the Foxes up for a positive run of form to begin 2022/23.
“We’re at home, so we need to attack the game, and defend well as well,” he added. “It’s the first game, at home, [so we want] a good start, the three points. It’s going to be hard, it’s not always easy.
“They’re coming to win as well. We need to take it serious and make sure we win our first game to get the momentum and the confidence.”
