Super Eagles Midfielder Alex Iwobi has said that every player currently in the team’s camp in Dallas is eager to prove a point as Nigeria prepares to face Mexico in a friendly today.
The team would be seeking redemption after a disappointing start to the 2022 international football calendar.
The Super Eagles were surprisingly knocked out of the 2021 AFCON in the round of 16 by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in January and two months later, the team missed another opportunity to appease aggrieved Nigerians as the country failed to secure a ticket to the 2022 World Cup billed for Qatar after losing to arch rivals Ghana on away goal rule.
Iwobi who is returning to the Super Eagles squad after the suspension from the red card he got against Tunisia told NFF TV that both foreign and local based players are willing to give everything to get a positive result against Mexico.
“Everybody is psyched up for the game, it’s another opportunity to represent your country.”
“It’s been a while I’ve been playing because obviously I missed the World Cup qualifiers but I’m back again. It’s not just me that is hungry, the local players are hungry to prove a point so we are going to represent and do our best for the country.” Super Eagles number 18 concluded.
Nigeria face Mexico today by 1 a.m Nigerian time.
