WE WILL GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS – ABUBAKAR ARIKYA

Acting Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United Football Club, Lafia, Abubakar Arikya, has said his team will get back to winning ways, despite the team’s NPFL week six loss to Delta Force FC of Asaba in Lafia during their week six clash.

Nasarawa United was playing her first home match under closed doors since the imposition of sanctions on the Club by the League Management Company, LMC, for breaching certain Framework and Rules in their game against Plateau United two weeks ago.

The Lafia-based team had come into the game with high expectations following the vital away point picked against Akwa United in Uyo a week ago.

In what would be described as the best performance so far by the team since the beginning of the 2019/2020 League Season, United were lacking in goals as plethora of chances that came their way were either caught by the visitors’ goalkeeper, Sochima Ndukwa, or squandered.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 34th minute through an Enudi Solomon’s free-kick few metres away from the goalkeeper’s area.

Nasarawa United’s persistent pressure to score could not yield any goal as the referee blew the final whistle to put score at 0-1 in favour of Delta Force.

Nasarawa United will now focus on their away game against Sunshine Stars of Akure on Sunday, December 8th, at the Akure Township Stadium, Ondo State, before welcoming Kano Pillars during the midweek, and Coach Abubakar Arikya, who is leading the team for the second game since the departure of Coach Bala Nikyu said Nasarawa United will come back to winning ways in no distant time despite losing today’s game.

“Nothing went wrong in our game today. That is football, sometimes you win, and some other times you lose or draw.

“We accept the defeat, but we will go back and correct the mistakes.

“We lost so many of our chances; we didn’t convert any of them. If we had utilized our chances, especially in the first-half, I don’t think the game would end the way it ended today”, he explained.

Reacting to the team’s next match against Sunshine Stars in Akure, Arikya added:

“As against Sunshine Stars, anything can happen there. We can go and win there or even pull a draw.”

He pleaded with stakeholders and supporters of the Club to keep faith as results would soon begin to come.

“Somehow, we are under pressure because the result is not good for the team. But, they(stakeholders and supporters) should be patient with the team”, he ended.
