Mountain of fire and miracles FC started the NPFL 2019/2020 campaign with a convincing win over former manager, Fidelis Ilechukwu now at Heartland FC with a 1-0 away victory.
The win was a big boost for the Olukoya boys who holds the head to head record going into the match against their opponent, Ifeanyi Ubah at their home ground at the Agege Soccer Temple.
Ifeanyi Ubah took the lead in the first half before MFM levelled up shortly before Half time. Despite an improved second half, Ifeanyi Ubah refused to succumb to the pressure and got a point from that clash.
Having won against Rangers away, an home win against Warri wolves would have bettered their title battle and move them within the 2nd position on the log.
Tony Bolus boys scuppered so many changes before the break only to be punished by the beautiful freekick of Warri’s forward.
Although they got a point through Kabiru’s late strike, so much concerns lies ahead with just four goals scored, one conceded.
Reacting after his side dramatic draw, Femi who took on the captain armband replacing veteran Nelson said his side still has so much to fight for.
” We just started the season, we have been sluggish no doubt, but we will surely come good, we took 6 points away at Heartland and Rangers, we just need to work hard and take every game as ultimate”, he stated.
” Fatigue is also part of it but that’s not an excuse, it’s not east playing midweeks, travels, coming back to play home the next day, we will give it our all and see what’s next, our focus is in our away trip, we look forward for maximum 3 points”, he concluded.
