Super Falcons of Nigeria midfielder, Toni Payne, has expressed confidence in the team’s performance ahead of their second leg Olympic qualifier match against South Africa. The team is carrying a 1-0 lead from the first leg, which took place at Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Describing the first leg victory, Toni Payne said, “I think we had a really great game. We had most of the control and attacked them a lot.” She noted that South Africa didn’t have many chances against them, except for in the second half. “We’re feeling really confident that we got the win at home and we’re just hoping to even step it up the next game so that we can seal our ticket for Paris,” she added.
When asked about the challenges faced by the forwards in scoring goals, Toni Payne acknowledged that the national level is quite high and the players are not used to each other. “The connection cannot be as strong by default,” she said. However, she expressed faith in the team, saying, “We have a really good team. We trust each other. And I think the goals will come.”
