The Nigeria female U17 team, the Flamingoes saw off Egypt 2-0 in the return leg of the U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Cairo Egypt to end with an aggregate 6-0 win.
The flamingoes had earlier picked up a 4-0 win in Abuja before adding two in Cairo to progress to the next round of the qualifiers and coach of the side Bankole Olowookere expressed satisfaction at his side’s performance.
“It was a bit difficult. They (Egypt) had the home support and then the weather was a little harsh beyond our expectation but we gave it our best and the girls,” he said.
The Egyptian ladies tried to get something out of the game, putting a lot of pressure on the Flamingoes and pegging them back and coach Bankole says it’s part of the cautiousness of the team to avoid injuries.
“It’s part of their plan to hard on us, we were also trying to avoid injuries, take it gently, retrieve the ball from them and try to express ourselves and we succeeded in doing that,” coach Bankole stated.
The Flamingoes next prepare for games against Ethiopia and South Africa to seal qualification.
