Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has said his administration does not condone corruption in any form.
The Governor made this known at the 4th National Anti-Corruption 21 kilometres Marathon Race held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Saturday, 15th October, 2022.
Represented by the State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, Governor Sule said, “We do not condone any act of corruption in Nasarawa State.
“We have well-structured institutions that monitor any act of corruption in Civil or Public Service and the repercussions mechanisms are very strict. This is to deter anyone from indulging in any corrupt practices.
“I am happy to attend this Marathon Race and the goal is in line with our administration’s poise to nip corruption in the bud.”
While commending Organizers of the event, Public Complaint Commission and Fair-Play Sports International Agency, for coming up with the programme, the Governor called on Nigerians to join hands to fight the dreaded menace which is daily eating deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian society.
Other dignitaries who attended the event were the Mr. Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf(Chief Commissioner, Public Complaint Commission) and National Coordinator of the Marathon and Executive Director, Fair-Play Sports International Agency, Jacob Onu.
At the end of the Race which began at the Unity Fountain, Adamu Mu’azu Shehu and Rose Akusho emerged winners in the men’s and women’s categories after an impressive one hour, nine minutes and 49 seconds and one hour and 20 minutes respectively, to cart away the one million naira prize money for each category.
Teenage sensations, Francis James and Vera Yohanna, came second respectively in the men’s and women’s categories.
The National Anti-Corruption Marathon Race was aimed at intensifying campaigns against corruption through sports.
Medals and certificates were presented to participants of the event.
