Chairman of Eko Youth Sports Association, Lateef Ojora Ogunfowora has announced more than thirty club owners have indicated their interest to participate in the forthcoming Aare Tomori Williams U-16 male and U-19 female football competition.
Ogunfowora said this while speaking with Sports247 in Lagos that thirty club owners are interested in the competition and noted that only clubs with good character and football pedigree would be allowed to take part in the tourney sponsored by Aare Tomori Williams.
“Presently more than thirty club owners have come to us for registration forms. Aare Tomori Williams Cup is a big competition in which every club wants to participate. The registration forms are on sale and all I know is that we cannot accommodate all the clubs at the end of the day,” he said.
Ogunfowora popularly known as Shevchenko explained further that the competition would kick off in September saying that there is room for interested club owners to come and obtain their registration forms.
“We cannot stop registration forms now because we want the clubs both male and female from various places in Lagos and at the end of the day we would reduce the registered teams to sizeable numbers,” he said.
On the prize money, Ogunfowora revealed that the cup donor has promised a substantial amount of money for the winners.
According to him, the winners would go home with the sum of N600,000 with a giant trophy, while the first and second runner-up would receive N400,000 and N250,000 respectively in the male category.
In the female category, winners would receive N500,000 with a giant trophy, while second and third positions would smile to the bank with the sum of N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
