Despite his team’s exit at the Governor Wike Pre-Season Tournament, Ottasolo International President, Gabriel Davies believes his boys performed very well.
The Lagos side weren’t overpowered by big-spending Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs at the tournament in Port Harcourt.
They won 1, drew 1, and lost two games in the competition but former Stores star Gabriel Davies stressed that his boys performed beyond expectation.
He said his side had “profited enormously” from their run at the tournament in Port Harcourt, which ended with elimination at the group stage.
“I’m very satisfied with our performances and with what we gained out of the tournament,” Gabriel Davies told Governor Wike Pre-Season Tournament Media.
“In terms of exposure, in terms of experience for the players and the building of our confidence and team spirit.”
At the competition, Ottasolo were drawn with Rivers United, Akwa United, Lobi Stars and Cynosure. They suffered an exit in the first round.
However, Gabriel Davies said the disappointment was shrugged off by the gains from the tournament.
“We weren’t overpowered, don’t forget that we conceded just two goals and gave a good account of ourselves. That’s life,” he added.
It would be recalled that Gabriel Davies played for Stores, Nitel FC, Dragons, Energy, and Mogas 90 in the past. He is the second Nigerian to play in the Benin Republic after Peter Rufai. It was after his football career that he took the likes of Razak Omotoyosi, Muri Ogunbiyi and a host of others to Benin Republic
