Rangers International midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu is optimistic about the chances of Rangers making it out of their tough group in the CAF Confederation Cup. As he believes that the Flying Antelopes have what it takes in quality to negotiate the tricky group.
Early this week, the draws for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup was made. Enugu Rangers were drawn in Group A alongside two Egyptian top-flight clubs Al Masry SC and Pyramid FC, with FC Nouadhibou , a Mauritanian clubside completing the group.
Reacting to the draws, the former Enyimba of Aba player disclosed that he is aware of the threat posed by the Egyptian clubs but also is giving due respect to the Mauritanian side.
“Honestly it’s going to be tough. Having two Egyptian teams in the group will make it very tough. Though we don’t know much about the Mauritanian team but we believe that they will be equally tough as well. So we are going
to prepare very well for all of them and make sure that we qualify to the next round.”
Speaking further, the seasoned NPFL campaigner believes that the quality in the team is enough to take Rangers far in the continent and push for the NPFL title as well.
“Yes Ofcourse we have a very quality team, we have quality players. I believe that with the work we are putting on ground, with the training and with the guidance of the technical crew headed by Coach Benedict Ugwu, God will see us through”
Rangers International will play their first continental game at the Cathedral on Sunday 1st of December 2019 against Pyramid FC of Egypt.
