Onigbinde admitted that his team did not perform up to expectations. “We didn’t play well,” he confessed. He further explained that he was familiar with the capabilities of his team, having played several times at this level. However, he felt that they failed to bring their best game to the field.
The coach highlighted missed opportunities as a significant factor in the loss. “If we play very well, we have almost three chances,” he said, referring to the potential scoring opportunities that his team failed to capitalize on. He pointed out two glaring scoring chances in the second half, around the 15-minute mark, which his team failed to convert. “I don’t know what’s wrong with the boys, they can’t place the ball in the net,” he lamented.

Onigbinde also expressed his disagreement with a penalty decision during the match. “To me, I’ve not rewatched it, but what I see, it’s just a giveaway. It’s not a penalty,” he argued, indicating his belief that the decision was too easily given.
Despite the setback, Onigbinde remained optimistic about the future. He revealed that several of his players were recovering from injuries and were already undergoing rehabilitation. “We have almost four or five of our players injured. But most of them are getting back,” he said, expressing hope that the return of these players would strengthen the team in upcoming matches.
The loss to Bayelsa United marks a challenging period for Doma United, but with the coach’s determination and the imminent return of key players, the team is hopeful for a turnaround in their fortunes.
