The Chairman of the United Football Championship and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dominion Hotspur FC, Lagos, Emmanuel Udeogu on Thursday, at the Abati Barrack mini stadium, Surulere, where matches at the ongoing United Football Championship are currently played, appealed that football in the country should not be left in the hands of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) alone.
According to the amiable Udeogu, that was one of the major reasons they decided as Elite club owners to start up their own league to assist the NFF.
“We should not for any reason leave football in the hands of NFF alone.
“To demonstrate this, we started a league as Elite Club Owners that we can call our own in order to assist the NFF and also help the upcoming young football players to actualize their dream of playing professional football abroad.
“You would agree with me that football is one of the avenues young Nigerians have to escape poverty.
“We are blessed with so many talents which we should not leave for the NFF alone to handle.
“We have to contribute our own quota by helping to groom the young players that God has blessed with these talents.
While speaking further, he said many of their partners abroad are interested because they know we are blessed with lots of talents in Nigeria.
“Our best striker now, Victor Osihmen moved from one of the clubs playing in this league, Box 2 Box, and many others like Musa Muritala Daniel that plays in Serbia moved from Dominion Hotspur, Lanre Kehinde Olarenwaju Mohammed also traveled from Dominion Hotspur, there is also Etim Friday with Vizela in Portugal, a division one side, he equally joined Vizela from Dominion Hotspur, he concluded.
