Despite the fact that the fuss about contract extension between the NFF and Gernot Rohr has been settled, the Super Eagles gaffer seems to be walking on a thin line as The Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare claims his contract could be terminated.
Sports247 can confirm that Gernot Rohr has agreed to a new two and half year contract with the NFF to continue as Super Eagles technical adviser.
But Sunday Dare while in a chat online said Rohr’s contract can be terminated at any time.
“The contract carries lots of terms and if he does not meet with our standard, we can terminate his contract. Even if we bring a world class, it is will be the same (process), if the results are not good, he will be shown the way out.”
The Minister elucidated that there are expectations the Franco German tactician must meet to fulfill his contractual terms.
“With the conditions we have put him, it is only fair if he has accepted to let him continue. But then (he) has a higher standard of responsibility: a great depth of technicality in our football and a greater level of success.”
Gernot Rohr has been in charge of the Super Eagles since 2016 and will be the longest serving coach to be with the national team since Clemens Westerhof.
