The Nigerian National League is set to kick start this weekend and Joy Cometh tackle Gateway FC at home in the opener on Sunday 14th February 2021.
In preparations for the start of the season, the team played a friendly against NPFL side, MFM FC which they lost 1-0 at the Agege Stadium.
Speaking to Sports247, midfielder of Joy Cometh, Jide Taiwo said his side can’t wait to start the league. “We’ve been expecting this, we have been preparing and we really can’t wait for the league to start and we’re looking forward to it,” he said.
The league went on a long break during the last season due to management issues and then came Covid-19 which interrupted a lot of things, however, Jide explained that it may have affected them a little but the lads are gelling together once again and they’re good to go as he feels they have a good squad and they will hopefully do well.
Asked about the chances of his side being the second Lagos team in the NPFL next season he said his team can do it.
“So far so good, we have a strong team and I know we’ll do well because we’ve played some other teams here (Agege Stadium) and they don’t really match us,” he said.
