In the final match of the LAB Memorial Football competition, Mighty Stars FC faced a tough defeat against Right Choice Vision FA, losing 1-0.
One of the key moments in the final was when Onyekachi Emmanuel, a player from Mighty Stars FC, was shown a red card.
“Due to the match, the referee actually spoiled the game because it was like he was favouring our opponent ahead of us, which is not supposed to be.
Then I got frustrated, and I kicked their player. He did not even give me a yellow card.
Just gave me a straight red card. So I was, I was so frustrated,” Emmanuel said.
Despite the red card and the loss, Emmanuel remained positive about the team’s performance in the tournament.
“We did great because the opponents we faced before getting to the final are more, even thicker than these people we played in our final.
So we are the champions already. We are the champions of this competition, it is just the referee that spoiled everything,” he added.
Emmanuel also shared the lessons he learned from this tournament.
“The lessons I learned is that I need to be calm whenever the referee is supporting the other side because you know that the referee’s decision is final and so I have to learn patience and always remain calm,” he said.
This experience, though challenging, has provided Mighty Stars FC and their players with valuable lessons and the determination to come back stronger in their future games.
