The camp offers excellent accommodations and facilities, ensuring the athletes and coaches can focus entirely on their preparations without any distractions.

When asked about the readiness of Team Nigeria, Coach Olalehin confidently told Sports 247, “We are ready, and we are good to go.”

He praised the current training conditions at Ilaje, dispelling any negative rumours. “So far, everything is good. Everything is beautiful. Whatever you guys have heard is all propaganda. Nothing is going on in the camp. The camp is so good. The feeling is good.

The accommodation is beautiful. We are staying in the main hotel; the lights are not shutting down. Everything is so nice. And the kids are training well. The coaches are doing whatever they can, and we are thanking the ministry.

We thank the minister, and the director for putting all of this together. So, it’s a beautiful preparation. Now this is our second week. We are going into the third week and there’s nothing to complain about. We can’t compare this to the African Games. This is 100%.”

Despite the challenges faced at the world level, the team has managed to qualify three boxers for the Olympics.

This accomplishment is significant given the global competition, with countries like Cuba having only five qualified boxers.

The three Nigerian boxers—Dolapo in the 57kg featherweight category, Cynthia in the 60kg category, and Adams Olawale in the heavyweight category—have shown exceptional readiness, continuing their rigorous training post-African Games.

The training program includes a combination of local and overseas camping, providing a comprehensive preparation strategy.

The coaches have maintained close communication with the athletes and their local coaches, ensuring consistency in their training regimes.

Coach Olalehin expressed optimism about Nigeria’s prospects at the Olympics, focusing on the team’s determination and the government’s support.

With meticulous preparation and a strong belief in their capabilities, Team Nigeria aims to bring back medals and restore the nation’s glory in Olympic boxing.
