Adeshana, who has been with the team since its inception four years ago, reflected on their journey, noting that they were initially underestimated and not expected to advance past the group stage. However, they used the tournament as an opportunity to make a powerful statement about their capabilities.
In an interview with Sports247, he revealed, “We tried as much as possible to score in the game, but it did not work out. Penalty shootouts are a game of luck, but thankfully we were able to conquer our opponents with the penalty shootout. All Glory to God, thanks to our management and coaches for giving us the chance and believing in us.”
When asked if they had anticipated the match ending in a penalty shootout, Adeshana responded, “Not really. But we had it at the back of our minds that however it comes, we would take it. On Wednesday, after our match, we went back into training and had a session on taking penalty shots. Each of us took at least five penalty kicks.
This justifies and shows in this penalty shootout that practice makes perfect, which gave us the victory.”
Regarding their preparedness for the Creative Championship, he confidently stated, “With what I have seen so far from Broad City FC, coaches, and the technical crew, we are 100% prepared for the tournament. We surpassed our own expectations because we have been delivering surprising performances consistently. We were able to score a considerable number of goals.
Although in the previous game against AS Racines, we conceded three goals unanswered in the first 15 minutes, we will go back to the drawing board to address our shortcomings. We are now fully prepared, aiming for the championship.
Broad City is making its presence known, and any team that faces us must be well-prepared. We are ready to compete.”
