After reaching the round of 32 of the Winners Golden Bet Lagos State Challenge Cup, founder of 36 Lion Football Club, Liameed Gafar has expressed confidence that his team are ready to face any team that comes their way in the next round of the tourney.
Gafar said this after his team defeated FC Bethel 7-6 on penalties after a barren draw at the regulation time in the second round. He expressed delight that his boys played to coach instruction which helped them to win their opponents via penalties.
The football administrator said what he saw in the team against their opponents showed that they are ready to face any team in their next round and warned the so-called big teams in the Lagos FA Cup to beware of Lion.
“We are Lions and we are ready for any team. We take them as they come and do our best to devour them. I know the challenges ahead and we are also working round the clock to ensure that we win our next game,” he said.
Gafar said his appreciation went to the Technical Director of the club, Akinshola Akinrele for a good plan and well-executed match which gave the team victory.
He also commended his players for the fighting spirit exhibited throughout the encounter and urged them to do more in their next game.
“I congratulate Akinrele and his players for booking a place in the next round of the competition. I saw your commitment, doggedness and resilience in your match against FC Bethel. This is the good spirit and I want the coaching crew and players to continue in that direction because we still have a long way to go in the competition,” he said.
