WBC Grand Prix: Michael Adesodun Falls to Mujibillo Tursunov, Exits the Season

In a commanding performance, Uzbekistan’s Mujibillo Tursunov secured a decisive victory over Michael Adesodun during the opening stage of the Riyadh Season WBC Boxing Grand Prix.

Tursunov showcased superior skill and strategy, delivering a knockdown in the third round and maintaining control throughout the bout to advance confidently to the next round.

The match was part of the inaugural stage of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix, held from April 17 to 20 at the BLVD City Global Theater in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, it will be the turn of Nigerian Rasheed Adeyemo (15-0-0-8 KOs) takes on Venezuela’s Isaac Torres (14-1-0-14KOs) in a middleweight clash later today at the ongoing WBC Boxing Grand Prix 1st Boxing World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Nigeria presented four boxers to this prestigious tournament which spans multiple phases across the 2025 season.

It is aim to revolutionize the sport with innovative rules designed to maximize viewer engagement.

Among the new features are an open scoring system announced after the second and fourth rounds, an audible 30-second warning before each round’s end, and the removal of draw decisions—ensuring a clear winner in every match.

The WBC Grand Prix is a cornerstone of the #RiyadhSeason initiative, backed by His Excellency Turki Alalshikh.

Its mission is to spotlight rising stars in boxing and provide them with a global platform to showcase their talent on the world stage.
