Watford of England youngster, Jayden Bennets has opted not to be a part of Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles’ squad to this year’s African U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic.
Although the official explanation for his departure from the Flying Eagles’ camp in Abuja was a recall by his club for official duties, sports247.ng learnt the youngster never played himself into contention with the team.
Bennets is said to have left the Nigerian team’s camp on Sunday, with an excuse that he wanted to sort out club issues in London, just a week after he joined Coach Paul Aigbogun’s wards in training.
However, feelers from the camp revealed that the 18-year-old Bennets, who was born in England, struggled to fit into Aigbogun’s training regime and struggled to cope with physical demands from the coaches.
Consequently, Bennets will not be part of the squad that travels to Saudi Arabia this weekend for a friendly on Tuesday, now will he be part of the team that goes to Niger Republic for the AFCON U20, from which they will target a ticket to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland.
Bennetts ended not playing a single tune-up game for the team and was not in the frame of those who would make the trip to Saudi Arabia.
