Warri Wolves have qualified for the 2019 Aiteo Cup competition after the Seasiders emerged victorious on Thursday, April 25, 2019, in the second semi final tie of the DFA/State Aiteo Cup against J. Atete in Asaba, sports247.ng reports
Thanks to a 4 – 1 thumping of the privately owned Warri based club before a sizeable crowd at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
An own goal, as well as goals from Wolves’ trio of Ikechukwu Nwafor, Atshimene Charles, and Okechukwu Promise, guaranteed safe passage for the Seasiders into the national cup tournament and secured a place in the state final against Delta Force.
The Seasiders, who had a near dominant display for greater part of the encounter, have not played at the national level of the Aiteo Cup since 2016.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner for Works, Mr James Augoye, has donated food items to Warri Wolves, as part of a pledge he made to assist the club, says the General Manager of the club, Moses Etu
The works commissioner donated bags of garri, rice, beans, gallons of cooking oil, amongst other items, to the Seasiders.
While urging other well-meaning Deltans to support and assist state owned teams, he charged Warri Wolves’ players and officials to be focused and be worthy ambassadors of the state in all competitions.
Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of Warri Wolves, Etu Moses, described the Commissioner for Works, Mr James Augoye, as a principled individual and a man of his words.
“The commissioner is a principled person and a man of his words,” said Etu Moses emphatically. “He promised to assist us earlier and he has fulfilled that pledge.”
“I want to thank him on behalf of players and officials of the club. We pray God will reward him abundantly.”
Warri Wolves are drawn bye on Matchday 3 of the Nigeria National League, NNL, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
