Standby Golden Eaglets Striker, Waris Hundeyin has wished the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, the best of luck as they square off against Cote d’Ivoire in their opening match of Group B of the WAFU B tournament in Togo.
Waris Hundeyin who made the 30 man list for the WAFU B Tournament, released by Coach Fatai Amao, but is currently on the standby list, has urged the team to make the country proud by performing well in the competition.
In a chat with Sports247, ahead of the Golden Eaglet’s first game in the tournament against Cote d’Ivoire, Waris stated that it was a privilege for him to make the 30 man squad released by the Coach, regardless of the fact that he was among the standby list, looking at the population of Nigeria, it was an honor to him, as he thanked his coach as well as Coach of his Academy (Team360Fc).
“I will like to thank the Coach (Fatai Amao) as well as my Academy Coach (Shola Raji) for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to make the 30 man squad. Even though I am on the standby list, it is still a privilege to me, making the team, because there are millions of Nigerians out there who could perform better than me, but I was given the honor, I really appreciate it and I am grateful for the opportunity”.
“I will also like to use this medium to urge the selected players in the team to perform well and make the country proud by making sure we qualify for the CAF U17 African Cup of Nations, starting with a win against Cote d’Ivoire”, he added.
Nigeria commences their journey towards qualifying for the U17 African Cup of Nations in Morocco when they battle Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday in their opening group game of the WAFU B Tournament.
