Waldrum Rolls Out Plan-B, Due To Absence Of Plumptre, Demehin

Super Falcons’ coach, Randy Waldrum, has turned to ‘Plan-B,’ as he seeks alternatives for Ashleigh Plumptre and Tosin Demehin in Friday’s game against South Africa in Abuja.

Plumptre and Demehin are out of the final qualifier for the 2024 Olympic Games due to injuries, but Waldrum stressed that there is no cause for alarm, as he will be counting on capable replacements.

Rather than fret over the absent defenders, the American tactician disclosed that he quickly turned up a contingency plan the moment he found out that the duo would not be available for selection.

He admitted that they will both be sorely missed in Friday’s clash with the current African champions but projected that able replacements will fit in properly and equally get the job done.

Waldrum calmly stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with those two players. They are both vitally important players to us, two mainstays in our defence, and it’s a big loss not to have those two.

“So, my first thoughts are for them, and we’re making sure that they’re going to be okay. But a coach should always have a plan-B, and we’re working on those plans.

“I think we have players that will be ready to step in, replace them, and do a good job for us. I have confidence in the depth of our squad, and I know they can come in and do the job we ask them to do.”

The coy gaffer concluded with a declaration that he will now concentrate on mapping out a winning strategy after facing the first task of filling the gap created by the absences of Plumptre and Demehin.
