Bearing in mind any changes which includes a Bayana Bayana two goals unreplied defeat and Super Falcons two goal margin win against Burundi, the Super Falcons will face Cameroon in the last 8 of the on going Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
If the positions remains as it is with South Africa top of Group C and Nigeria finish second position, the draws will stay as drawn by CAF.
The clash will see the Super Falcons face the Indomitable Lioness in another blockbuster with the last clash in 2018.
Both teams have met a total of 9 times with 6 of the clashes in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The very first time they clashed was in 2010 when Nigeria won 5-1. The Nigerians do have a better head to head with 4 wins and 2 draws in 9 games.
The last meeting in the semifinals of the 2018 Women Africa Cup of Nations ended in a full time draw as both team had to be separated by penalties which Nigeria won 4-2.
This time around, they will be clashing in the quarter finals of WAFCON and apart from edging closer to winning the WAFCON title, the winner grabs the 2023 Women’s World Cup ticket as the four finalist will represent Africa at the world stage.
The task will be a huge one for the Nigerians to overcome with the young players in the squad yet to experience the Cameroonians.
