DIDIER LE BOURGNE, the seven-time champion of the world in different categories for Muaythai and Kickboxing has been recommended for the Chairperson of the Mixed Martial Arts Committee in charge for MMA that includes Muaythai, Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, and others.
The development comes on the heels of the body’s international ring Officials training Seminars that from November 16 to 18th in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates which brings together participants from Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Asian Pacific regions respectively.
According to the Director of Human Resources Management Ms. Irene Joseph Magebo, Didier’s expertise spanning over 40 years would be a great asset for WABA as it pivots boxing and combat sports under one roof. Ms. Magebo said that while other bodies have separate entities for combat sports but, WABA are knitted firmly under one roof.
In 1975, Didier’s teacher Patrick Brizon went to Japan to train with Master Yamaguchi Gogen and brought a new era of the fighter who rose quickly to various titles fighting in Hong Kong, Japan, America, Canada, Argentina, England, and the USA.
Presently apart from training in MMA he trains professional fighters of K-1, Muay Thai, and MMA (in feet), and collaborates in the creation of fight-cards for several organizers.
In another development, the WABA’s Board of Directors will meet in Dubai on November 19th, for various items on its agenda including its convention, ratify various titles on schedule and approve members for various Committees.
The ring officials training seminar that is organized by the Ringside Gym Global of Dubai and coordinated by WABA is certified by both the Association of Professional Boxing Commission (APBC) and Boxers Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Union (BMMAFU) both American organizations.
