In a post-match interview with Sports247, Ayodele Akinpelu, the Assistant Coach of Vining United FC, shed light on the team’s winning strategy after their triumphant match against North York FC.

Coach Akinpelu attributed their success to the players’ adherence to tactical instructions, stating, “The only difference is they played to instruction, and that is what gave us the win.”
As a consistent participant in the NLO Division 2, Vining United FC has set its sights on promotion. Coach Akinpelu shared the team’s ambitious goal, saying, “Our target is to promote. That is our aim and what we believe in. Although we lost our first two matches, we came back strong in the third and fourth matches. For the remaining two matches, we have hope that we will emerge victorious and secure promotion for the group.”
Addressing the standard of the NLO2 tournament, Coach Akinpelu acknowledged that it revolves around U-19 teams from the NLO. He expressed understanding of the organizers’ focus on promoting grassroots football, stating, “Normally, we didn’t expect that, but due to the specifications from the organizers, we need to follow them as they prioritize nurturing young talent in the U-19 competition.”
