Vincent Akinbami, one of the leading sports administrator in Nigeria has called on selected referees, secret assessors who will be officiating in the league to maintain right standard ahead of league kick-off.
In lieu of the interim management committee’s provisions for the officials, Akinbami stated that the arrangement is enough for them to uphold fair officiating and assessing in order to make every team have equal right to participate so that a true champion can emerge, Sports247.ng writes.
“Talking about officiating, the IMC have come out to say that there will be point deduction for any harassment of referees or any crises in the stadium and this automatically means that the referees should be assured of securities, there shouldn’t be no excuse that they are being intimidated for them to favor a side than the other.”
“It will be a level playing ground for every team, any team that’s good enough should be able to win away with good officiating.”
“Possibly this season might be the first time we have a true champion and not a side that will set money aside to take care of referees.”
“IMC are taking care of referees and will be paying into the account of the referees directly so I see no reason why any club chairman should host any referees.”
“Secret accessor isn’t supposed to know anybody but just go from stadium to the match, take your report back to the IMC,” he advised.
